Abstract

This panel explores the relationships between the European Union and its subnational territories. The papers will touch upon how the EU impacts subnational governments through its Cohesion Policy and Structural Funds but also how subnational governments are active at the EU level through lobby offices and in EU policy-making through multilevel government structures. In addition, one paper will explore the use of the EU in discourses by political parties which strive for independence.
