Abstract

This panel examines how gender, sexuality, and gendered political contexts shape electoral behaviour and political attitudes. The papers explore the relationship between gendered cultures and voting patterns, including the role of masculine culture in the gender gap in populist radical right voting. They also consider how party strategies on gender issues may influence this gap, alongside differences and similarities in electoral decision-making among LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ voters. Together, the papers highlight the ways in which gender, identity, political messaging, and social context interact in shaping political behaviour.
