Abstract

This panel examines trust and political attitudes towards democracy in Southern Europe, not only within broader societal opinion but also among political elites and journalists. It explores the impact on democratic erosion in Southern Europe and considers potential remedies, including digital innovation in political campaign financing. The papers draw evidence not only from the wider set of South European cases, but also zoom into specific country cases (Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece).
