Abstract

This panel explores the dynamic landscape of Gen Z and youth-led activism across diverse global contexts, showing how young people navigate social, political, and cultural challenges through innovative forms of participation. Drawing on research from different countries, the panel addresses generational differences in activism, the role of memory and identity in shaping political engagement, and the evolution of protest tactics in response to crises such as climate change, democratic backsliding, and global conflicts. By focusing on both the micro-level experiences of young activists and the broader socio-political contexts in which they operate, this panel offers critical insights into the transformative potential of youth-led activism for democracy.
