Abstract

This panel explores the impact of technology on contemporary social movements, examining how digital platforms, hashtags, and online discourses shape the dynamics of activism in diverse contexts. The panel will highlight phenomena like hashtag activism and many other ways in mobilizing participation in online political discourse. Additionally, the panel will analyze how marginalized groups employ digital culture and pop aesthetics to contest hegemonic narratives and patriarchal politics. Together, these contributions will illustrate on the evolving landscape of technology-mediated activism, offering insights into how digital tools both expand and complicate the reach and effectiveness of contemporary social movements
