Abstract

Realist approaches to contemporary conflicts often start with the focus on coercive capabilities and tools of organised response to flaring up conflicts. This panels brings scholars together to discuss responses to conflicts that seek to tackle immediately visible challenges on the ground: focus on strategies and institutionalisation of interactions, the role of third parties and opportunities seized by conflicting parties - when assessed holistically, can contribute to better appreciation of pathways from conflict to cooperation within diverse political contexts.
