Abstract

Trust is the foundation of effective governance, particularly at the local level, where government and citizens interact most directly. This panel examines the dynamic interplay between trust and local governance, exploring how trust shapes, and is shaped by, local government performance, citizen engagement, and community outcomes. By addressing the intersections of trust, local governance, and citizen participation, this panel contributes to the broader understanding of governance in a rapidly changing world. We aim to spark discussions on the critical role trust plays in achieving equitable, accountable, and effective local governance, offering actionable insights for scholars and practitioners alike.
