Abstract

Who gains access to policymakers, what are their characteristics, and to what extent do they benefit from this access are pertinent issues in interest group research. The papers in this panel provide a new perspective on these classic questions in the literature, also in the context of democratic backsliding, populism, and the recent pandemic. The papers use a variety of research methods and vary in their scope conditions, including geographical contexts that have received little scholarly attention so far.
