Abstract

In numerous jurisdictions, legal mobilization has become a key strategy for groups and organisations to influence public policy in areas as diverse as social welfare, property and taxation, education, civil rights and climate change. What explains the patterns of legal mobilization? How do legal opportunities shape the successes and failures of litigation? What determines the legal, political, and social impact of litigation? This panel provides an opportunity for scholars to examine evolving causes, patterns and consequences of legal mobilization.
