Behavioral lobbying and public opinion

Abstract

The panel tackles two key issues of interest group representation. First, it includes papers examining how the behavioral dynamics of interest group representatives and public officials affect the relationship between these actors and the outcomes of public policies. Second, the panel includes papers examining the relationship between interest groups and public opinion by addressing questions such as “do groups facilitate or distort agenda congruence between public opinion and political elites?” and “to what extent do civil society organizations’ preference represent the preferences of poor and rich segments of society?”.
