The panel contributes to current debates in agri-food policy and governance research on nexus problems, cross-sectoral policymaking and policy inter-linkages. It brings together innovative analytical, theoretical and methodical approaches that meet the empirical and theoretical research challenge of more complex, fluid, inter-linked and internationalized policymaking in the agricultural and food sector. The panel pursues two main objectives: 1) It contributes to theoretical debates about the potentials and limits of policy integration and policy design to address nexus problems at different policy levels (EU, national, and local). 2) It stimulates a critical reflection on the appropriateness of innovative research methods (citizen science, participatory research involving many stakeholders, living labs) to enhance the inclusiveness and legitimacy of outcomes in agri-food policy and governance research.
