The 2025 Franco-British Northwood Declaration signals an unprecedented commitment toward closer nuclear coordination between Europe’s two nuclear powers. As traditional security guarantees become less predictable, Europe faces a pivotal question: is intensified nuclear coordination the best strategy to secure the continent’s future?
Held in collaboration with The Loop's ☢️ Nuclear Politics Paradox series, this roundtable gathers scholars to unpack Europe’s evolving nuclear posture. Panellists will explore the practical, political, and ethical implications of deeper nuclear collaboration, and whether this shift enhances Europe’s security, introduces new strategic vulnerabilities or inadvertently contributes to nuclear proliferation and crisis-level instability.
All instalments in our House Series are FREE to attend and open to scholars from ECPR Member and non-Member institutions.
The House Series is FREE to attend and open to scholars from all institutions. Registration is required, for which you’ll need a My ECPR account.
