After obtaining my PhD at the University of Florence (1998), I spent a post-doctoral year in Sciences Po (2001-02). I became Lecturer at the University of Salerno (2002), where I was promoted Associate Professor in 2005. I then moved to Bologna in 2008. I have been Deputy-Director of the Istituto Cattaneo Research Foundation (2010-11) and I am a member of the 'Il Mulino' Association since 2010. I have held visiting positions at the Universities of Pennnsylvania (2010) Lyon (2012-14), Trier (2013), Queen Mary (2017), and at the Crick Centre at the University of Sheffield (2015). Since 2022 I am Research Associate at the University of Surrey. Since 2023, I am Co-editor of the Annual Review of the Journal of Common Market Studies
