Abstract

Political participation and mobilization in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) present unique challenges and opportunities. These regions, characterized by diverse historical, social, and political contexts, have undergone significant transformations in the past few decades, from post-communist transitions to EU integration, economic shifts, and rising populism. As such, political engagement in the region is shaped by both enduring legacies and contemporary movements. This panel will explore the evolution of political participation in CEE, examining how individuals and groups engage with political systems, mobilize for social and political change, and navigate the region’s complex political landscape.
