Abstract

The power to oversee the government through legislative tools and mechanisms is of utterst importance for parliament and for democracy. Parliaments, as institutions, play thus also a crucial role in either enabling or preventing democratic backsliding. This panel investigates the instruments, tools, and mechanisms in parliament to oversee democracy and democratic governments.
